Update for the Age of Knowledge

It's been quiet here for some time and that is due to work being put into proof reading the Age of Knowledge rulebook. It has been dreadfully dull and boring so I am glad to announce that I'm finally done with that. Sure, there are bound to be some errors still but at least they had to fight for survival...

The updated version can be found at the downloads page!

Summer heralds the Age of Knowledge

The feeling hasn't quite set in yet; but today the trilogy of rule books was completed. Still there's some way to go before there are any prints ready (proof reading for one thing) but just to have the content ready is a true milestone.

The Age of Knowledge book weights in at 335 pages (slightly shorter than the 351 pages Age of Information book) and covers such things as seafaring, gunpowder weapons and of course a new political setting. As with the other books it is freely available at the downloads page

Now, just because all the books are nearing completion it doesn't mean that there's no more work to do. There's still a few continents to pull off (http://www.centuria.se/2015/12/creating-world.html) and new adventures and settings to be described in detail - not to mention a lot of plot exposure of the machinations of this world.

So don't fret - there'll be more. But for now here's the first chance to enjoy the full set of Centuria rule books!

New print: The Age of Steel has arrived!

Say hello to the latest print of the Core Rule Book! At roughly 400 pages it is a solid piece with mostly text but a number of maps, short stories and item sketches to lighten things up. Hopefully more art can be added later on, but as that is not my area of expertise it will have to do for now.

It has been a lot of work and there are still two more books to go, but it feels very solid to finally have this in hand. The result was better than expected - particularly the hardback cover with many thanks to Sissela Lewitzki Andersson for the artwork!

As the author of these I can't say anything else than that I'm quite proud. For the achievement of actually getting this delivered to my doorstep, but also for all that last minute work put in to correct spelling mistakes (oh, there were lots of those), bad mathematics (don't ask) and the overall layout of the book. Now, don't get me wrong: I'm sure there are plenty of errors in there still - but at least they had to fight for survival.

So, I'll enjoy this milestone for a few days and then its back to work on the Age of Information rulebook!

Interested?

The Dreamspace

A small addition has been made to the Age of Information rulebook: Dreamspace. It is a good place for secret discussions and meetings as it is out of earshot for the Union. Read more about it under the GM section of the Age of Information rulebook (available at the downloads page).

Age of Information RULE BOOK RELEASE

Yep, that is right. We are stepping it up. Say hello to the print rewrite for the Age of Information. The work has been done in preparation for a small print sales release this autumn. We realize we skipped an age, but that is how things are right now.

As with the Core Rule Book there's no need to wait until printing (which will anyhow only be available in Sweden): you can go right to the download page and get it, right now. For free. No strings attached more than that if you do like it please spread the word.

Updates introduced:

  • Semi Auto Burst is now an Action and not a Full Action (actually this has been changed in the Core Rule Book, but here is where it matters).
  • A massive overhaul adding more than 100(!) pages of maps, images and a lot of background info.
  • Changed the Scope and Telescope weapon addons. Scope in the old rules is now replaced by Sight while Telescope is replaced by Scope.
  • Updated the ranges for all firearms.
  • Added several modules to the equipment section.

Downloads page updates

As part of this release the downloads page have also been updated. The old adventures available for download has been removed as they are not up to date with the updated rules (sorry). It is a future project to update them accordingly.
On the positive side though you will find a lot more maps available! Enjoy!

CORE RULE BOOK RELEASE

Summer is not all sun and rest. For the last few weeks the Core Rule Book has undergone a major rewrite, preparing the material for the first planned print sales release this autumn (provided the artist working on the cover can get it done in time - no pressure!).

Well, the rewrite is now complete and while the material contains a few tweaks and fixes it is mostly backstory and flavor. To be more precise it is about a total of 90 pages of backstory and flavor! Should give you some reading if the sun is not shining.

And to make it even better there's no need to wait until printing (which will anyhow only be available in Sweden): you can go right to the download page and get it, right now. For free. No strings attached more than that if you do like it please spread the word.

Updates introduced

  • When performing a Full Action a character is still allowed to make 1 Reaction in the same combat Round.
  • Some minor changes to the Attack modifiers (you'll find them on page 73).
  • Wounds now increase difficulty for all tests against Strength, Toughness and Agility.
  • Strain now increase difficulty for all tests against skills, Perception and Willpower.
  • Clarified the rules concerning performing rituals with several casters (page 111-112).
  • You'll find quite a lot of short little inspirational stories as you read along.
  • The chapters on Mortal Races and Nations & Peoples have been extended greatly (and also adding some maps).
  • The Death & Religion chapter has been extended.
  • The Army Management chapter has been slightly changed.
  • Weapon images have been added to the Gear chapter.
  • The list of spells by school have been extended with a short description of each school.

As for the Age of Knowledge and Age of Information rulebooks they too will see some major overhaul but no date set for that work yet. Keep your eyes open.

A Roof-top Challenge

Ongoing test play of the Age of Information yesterday featured a mission where the players where required to access the top floor of a large skyscraper. Finding the rule book equipment lacking alternatives the options available where elaborated with drop pods and gliders. Taking advantage of the great opportunity of full control over the rule book the latter have now been added to the gear chapter. How drop pods should be represented remain an issue to be considered.

Also some new drugs made it to the list as well. A cyberpunk world can never have enough drugs it seems...

Insanely insane!

Increasing the difficulty for handling insanity - means more insanity!

Basically it is now a bit harder to surpress a disorder once one have been obtained. Little point in gaining them unless they contribute to the fun, eh? Check out Mental Disorders on page 93 in the Core Rule Book for the different effects and the difficulty of surpressing them.

Can it get any crazier?

Big update!

A big update of the Core Rule Book has just been uploaded, adding descriptions for those items in the gear chapter lacking such (weapons, armors, shields and drugs). Check it out at the downloads page!
